Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council has reminded two town centre businesses of their legal responsibilities to keep streets tidy within 100 metres of their premises.
McDonald's, located on the High Street, has been asked to focus on discarded cartons, wrappers and cups outside its store. Morrisons has been tasked with targeting litter on the Goose Street footpath alongside the supermarket.
Council Commitment to Cleanliness
Gordon Mole, Chief Executive of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, said the authority is committed to working with businesses to benefit the whole community.
"Tidier town centres are part and parcel of making Newcastle more welcoming for residents and visitors alike and we are determined that everyone should play their part in keeping our streets clean," Mole said.
Council Cleaning Effort
The Council cleans the town centre 364 days a year. Borough council officers regularly patrol the town centre and will speak to any business that is not meeting its responsibilities.
