A global automotive parts designer is to build a new advanced manufacturing facility at Chatterley Park, the regeneration site formerly known as Chatterley Valley West.
Developer Harworth will construct a 108,600 sq ft facility expected to complete in the second half of 2027. The unnamed occupier will take an 18-year lease.
The development is backed by £3.6 million from the Kidsgrove Town Deal, secured by Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council. Staffordshire County Council has also invested £3.5 million, with that investment to be recouped from future business rates generated through the site's Enterprise Zone status.
Site potential and location
Chatterley Park sits on formerly derelict former colliery land close to the A500, M6 and A50. The site has potential to create up to 1,700 jobs.
Jonathan Gullis, Leader of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council and Cabinet member for Planning and Town Centres, said the announcement shows investment is returning to the area.
"This tenant will be the first on the site after acres of uneven, derelict former colliery land was reclaimed," he said.
Jonathan Haigh, Chief Investment Officer at Harworth, said the appointment "marks an important milestone in the emergence of Chatterley Park as a manufacturing centre of excellence" and noted continued strong occupier demand for units at the site.
