A 24-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme has been charged with attempted murder following an assault at a town centre shop.
Luke Mamczur was charged after police were called to Poundland on High Street at approximately 17:30 on Friday. A woman was assaulted during the incident and was taken to hospital, though she was later discharged.
Charges
Mamczur faces charges of attempted murder, intending to commit a sexual offence, and possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place.
Court appearance
He was due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Monday.
