A by-election for one of the seats representing Town ward on Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council will take place on Thursday, 8 October. The by-election follows the resignation of the previous councillor.
The other Town ward councillor, Sheelagh Casey-Hulme, will continue in her role and is unaffected by the vacancy.
How to stand as a candidate
People interested in standing must submit nomination forms before 4pm on Friday, 11 September. Forms are available on the Electoral Commission website or can be collected from the Elections Office at Castle House in Newcastle.
Completed nomination forms must be hand-delivered to the Returning Officer at Castle House, Barracks Road, Newcastle, ST5 1BL, between 10am and 4pm on Friday, 11 September.
Candidates can call 01782 742249 in advance to book an appointment to deliver papers and have them informally checked before submission.

Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council has 44 seats in total. Including the vacant Town ward seat, Reform UK currently holds 26 seats, the Conservative Party holds 15 seats, and Labour holds 2 seats.
Voting requirements
Everyone attending a polling station will need an acceptable form of photo identification.
