Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is delivering a £500,000 transformation of Bradwell Dingle, replacing outdated equipment and creating a more accessible green space for residents of all ages.
The centrepiece is a larger, modern and inclusive playground featuring more than 70 individual play elements. The new equipment will encourage children to climb, slide, swing, jump, balance, crawl, explore and play together, with designs shaped by feedback from local families and park users.
What's included in the upgrade
Work on the first phase is progressing well and includes an outdoor gym and improved accessibility.
Later stages of the project include landscaping enhancements and the installation of a new pump track.
How it's being funded
The scheme is being funded through developer contributions secured by Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council from the nearby Knype Way housing development. The funding is legally ringfenced for investment in local infrastructure and community facilities.
Community involvement
The plans were developed following consultation with residents, local ward councillors and the Friends of Bradwell Dingle, helping to ensure the improvements reflect the priorities and needs of the community.
Cllr. Ben Simpson, Cabinet member for Waste, Recycling and Green Spaces, said the park had been "at the heart of the community for many years, but its facilities had become tired and were no longer meeting the needs of residents."
The improvements are expected to be completed by late summer 2026.
