Bradwell Dingle is officially opening to the public this weekend following a £500,000 transformation that has delivered a larger modern playground, a new pump track and outdoor gym equipment.
Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council and Four One Four Skateparks are hosting a community open day on Sunday 18 October, from 11am to 4pm. The Borough Mayor Christopher Bailey will formally open the new playground at the event.
What's New at Bradwell Dingle
The upgrade includes more than 70 individual play elements across the new playground, a pump track for bikes and scooters, and outdoor fitness equipment. Landscaping improvements have also been completed across the site.
The £500,000 investment was funded through developer contributions secured from the nearby Knype Way housing development, ensuring local communities benefit directly from new building in the area.
The improvements were shaped by feedback from local families, residents and park users, including the Friends of Bradwell Dingle.
Sunday's Opening Celebrations
The open day will feature professional BMX demonstrations on the pump track, open riding opportunities for visitors, and a chance to meet the team who installed the facilities. A master of ceremonies will host the event.
Families are encouraged to bring bikes, scooters and skateboards to try out the new facilities.
Cllr. Ben Simpson, Cabinet member for Waste, Recycling and Green Spaces, said: "This is what investing in our communities should look like: better facilities for children, more opportunities for families and a neighbourhood park that local people can be proud of."
Shaun Scarfe, Founder of Four One Four Skateparks, added: "We're really proud to have delivered the new pump track at Bradwell Dingle and to have been part of the wider improvements to the park. It's been great to see the track already getting so much use, and we're looking forward to celebrating the official opening on Sunday and seeing riders of all ages enjoying it."
