Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is running a week-long Civic Pride campaign from Monday, 17 August to Friday, 21 August to improve the town centre, support local businesses and engage residents.
The council is working with Aspire Housing and Staffordshire Police on the initiative, which includes litter picks, environmental improvements, community drop-ins, business visits and patrols under the #PrideInNUL banner.
What's happening this week
On Tuesday, 18 August, the Civic Pride team will focus on the Dunkirk area with a community walkabout and litter pick starting at 10am.
Wednesday, 19 August brings three activities. Residents can visit a drop-in session at the Guildhall between 10am and 2pm to speak to council teams and partners about local issues. Staffordshire Police will hold a free bike-marking session from 10am at the Safe Space, opposite Caffè Nero in Ironmarket, to help residents protect their bikes and deter cycle theft. A community litter pick will also take place at Stubbs Gate from 10am, with equipment provided.
Throughout the week, council teams will carry out patrols across the town centre, visit local businesses and clear and improve the path running alongside the brook from Morrisons.

The next Civic Pride event will take place in Audley on Wednesday, 26 August.
