Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is bringing its Civic Pride campaign to Audley on Wednesday, 26 August, with a day of activities designed to improve the village's cleanliness and safety.
The initiative will bring together council teams, volunteers, Aspire Housing, Staffordshire Police and local residents to identify and tackle issues that matter most to the community.
What's happening on the day
A community litter pick will start from Audley Library at 10am. Everyone is welcome to take part and equipment will be provided.
Council teams will work alongside existing volunteers at the Minnie Pit memorial site to carry out end-of-summer maintenance and weeding. Residents have highlighted weed hotspots around the village, including the bus stops by the Boughey Arms and Butchers Arms, which will also be tackled.
A drop-in session will run at Audley Library from 10am, where residents can speak directly to representatives from Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, Aspire Housing and Staffordshire Police to raise concerns and ask questions.
What the council says
Cllr. Andrew Fisher, Cabinet member for Residents' Services and Neighbourhoods, said: "Civic Pride is about taking pride in the places we call home and working together to look after them. People in Audley know their community better than anyone. We want to listen to them, tackle the problems they raise and work alongside the fantastic volunteers who already give their time to make the village a better place."
The next Civic Pride event takes place at Keele on Wednesday, 23 September.
