Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is asking residents for their views on a £135,000 redevelopment of the existing BMX track at Lyme Valley Parkway.

The Council is working with specialist contractors Clark & Kent to replace the current track with a modern pump track. The new facility will be suitable for cyclists, skateboarders and scooter riders of different ages and abilities, and will feature rollers, banked turns and flowing bends. A new seating area for families and spectators is also planned.

The project is part of the Council's wider programme to improve parks, play areas and green spaces across the Borough. The new facility is expected to open in spring 2027.

Have Your Say

Two public engagement sessions have been arranged for residents to view the proposals, ask questions and speak to representatives from Clark & Kent. The contractors previously delivered the Council's pump track at Newchapel Recreation Ground.

Residents can also view the proposals and submit feedback through the Council's website. The deadline for online submissions is Friday, 27 November.

Recent Investment in Local Parks

The Lyme Valley project follows the opening of a new pump track at Bradwell Dingle, delivered as part of a £500,000 transformation funded by developer contributions. That investment also provided new outdoor gym equipment and a larger, more accessible playground featuring more than 70 play elements.

Cllr. Andrew Fisher, Cabinet member for Residents' Services and Neighbourhoods, said the Council wanted to invest in facilities that families, children and young people actually want to use, and encouraged residents to share their views before final plans are agreed.

Cllr. Ben Simpson, Cabinet member for Waste, Recycling and Green Spaces, added that the Council is determined to improve parks and green spaces across Newcastle-under-Lyme and wanted to keep delivering these improvements.
