Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is inviting residents to comment on how the borough's parks and green spaces are managed as part of a review of its Public Space Protection Order (PSPO).
The existing order expires in November and currently covers 211 locations across the borough, including Brampton Park, Kidsgrove Memorial Gardens, Silverdale Cemetery, Station Walks and Queens Gardens.
What the order covers
The PSPO gives the Council powers to tackle specific problems affecting residents' quality of life in these spaces. The review is considering restrictions relating to alcohol, dog fouling, dog control, temporary structures and other forms of anti-social behaviour.
Why the review matters
Cllr. Ben Simpson, Cabinet member for Waste, Recycling and Green Spaces, said: "Our parks and open spaces are among the borough's greatest assets. They are hugely valued by residents and visitors, and we want to make sure they remain safe, clean and welcoming for everyone. The vast majority of people enjoy them responsibly. But when a small minority spoil them through anti-social behaviour, dog fouling or other nuisance, we need the powers to step in and deal with it. This review is about making sure those powers are strong, sensible and fit for purpose."

The consultation runs until Thursday, 1 October. The Council is encouraging residents and visitors who use parks and open spaces to take part.
Anyone who breaches a PSPO can be prosecuted or issued with a £100 fixed penalty notice.
