Newcastle Borough Council is launching a week-long Civic Pride initiative in Kidsgrove from Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July. The scheme invites residents, businesses and community groups to take part in practical activities including litter picks, environmental improvements and support for local volunteer groups.
What's happening this week
A drop-in session will be held at Kidsgrove Town Hall on Tuesday 14 July from 10am to 2pm, followed by a community litter pick.
On Wednesday, neighbourhood rangers will clear overgrown entrances and improve footpath access at Clough Hall Lake, with volunteers welcome to join at 11am.
Thursday offers opportunities to volunteer with the council's Green Team at Kidsgrove Railway Station from 10am to 12pm, and with the Friends of Newchapel Observatory, a group restoring the former observatory.
Council activities throughout the week
Throughout the week, Newcastle Borough Council will increase its presence in Kidsgrove with street maintenance, fly-tipping patrols and pest control visits.
Council Leader Jonathan Gullis said the initiative responds to resident feedback and shows the council's commitment to tackling issues that matter locally.

The next Civic Pride event will take place in Newcastle town centre from 17 to 21 August.
